Our introduction and walk-through session in Walnut Creek on March 2nd, where 30 people attended, was a great indicator of how successful our subsequent visit to the track would be.
We had a fantastic day on March 15th at Thunderhill – beautifully sunny and dry, a great attitude from all drivers, safe and lots of fun! Despite a couple of last minute dropouts, we ended up with the largest car count ever for Diablo at Thunderhill, equaling our turnout at Laguna last year. There were no incidents and no stoppages for tow truck deployment.

What a great March we had with Diablo events! And there’s still plenty buzz and excitement left for the rest of the year.
But before I dive in to that, I want to take a moment to thank Doug Wiebe for all his hard work as the President of Diablo PCA for the last 15 months. Doug worked hard to ensure the flow never stopped as the board and volunteers delivered events. I first met Doug as the membership chair for the club at a breakfast. Being a new person and not really knowing anybody could be daunting to say the least. Doug made it a bit friendlier. I must have asked him a hundred stupid questions but he answered them all. I was already getting the Panorama’s but Doug kept giving me more and past issues as well. I later realized Doug was unloading them on me as he gets a monthly stack from National. Now I get the monthly stack, thanks for the idea Doug. By the time you read this Doug will have driven to Colorado with Carol to be closer to their kids. I will miss them; I wish you all the best!
