Ed WonI hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I wish you all a Happy New Year! What a year it has been;met a lot of new faces and reconnected with our regulars. Thank you all for coming out to the events and helping make them fun-filled.

I want to thank Bob and Christi Hilton for hosting the Christmas party at their home. More than a few folks told me what a great time they had and what great hosts the Hiltons were. The drive through the neighborhood was nice as well; good thing I didn't lead the group. Folks who went to the Grand Island tour and Kelly G. know what I mean. The white elephant gift exchange was mild in my group compared to other groups whendropped in on them. When there's wine, it's game time.

Ed WonAs I sit and write my final column for the year, I can't help but think about the great year I had with you all whether, just attending our breakfasts, taking tours, having great dining, social activities or the track days we just had. I hope you all had fun participating in this year's activities, reconnecting with friends and meeting new folks.

I started this year as your Vice President and took over for Doug Wiebe, big shoes to fill literally, size 13's as I recall. Seriously, I learned a lot from Doug, the club and you all. I learned that we have some pretty terrific folks that bind this club together, and the history of the club is still here if you talk to folks.

Ed WonThe holidays will soon be upon us, but we are still very active. No hibernation here! We continue to press forward. First, I want to say thank you to the folks who took the time to vote and endorsed your candidates. I want to welcome back Adam Cipriano and Jeff Kreutzer back on the board for 2 years. They stepped in and served the vacancies left by two board members and have done a great job. I also want to welcome newly elected Diron Scott and Bob Hilton to the board. These two guys are a great addition to the board and I look forward to working with them in 2014, our club's 30th anniversary. Two members of the board, Tosh and Dale will be stepping down. Thank you for your service to the club for the last 2 years.

Ed WonI would start by conjuring up images of fall and nippy weather, but it’s in the 80’s today and there’s no sign of that stopping for a few more weeks anyway.

What a wonderful summer! I hope you all enjoyed your summer spending time with family, friends and club activities. We started September with our track day at Thunderhill with some of us staying the extra day to run with Hooked on Driving’s Derric’s day to benefit Prostate Cancer cure. It was a nice relaxing day to reconnect with our track crowd and exercise our cars. As usual, HOD’s day was entertaining with the various auctions at midday, and all for a good cause.

Before I begin, it’s election time and please let us know if you would like to run for the board! These are full 2 year terms. As some of you may already know, in any given year half of the board is up for renewal. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. What a fun summer it has been! I know I had fun at the Murphy’s tour in August. We had a pleasant drive after breakfast to the town of Murphys for some wine tasting and a great meal. Many thanks to Ingrid and Ted French for leading the tour, and to Ted for entertaining us with his stories of his childhood there. It sounds like the town has transformed quite a bit with boutiques and the bakery that won on The Cupcake Wars television show. I got to sample one of the cupcakes, but what I should have done is bought a bunch. In hindsight, it was probably best I went in there with a full stomach. But what made it really fun was seeing the regulars of tours and meeting new people and not so new people who have been in the club for a while. For me, having folks come out and try an outing confirms we are heading in the right direction. You are always free to let me know if I’m delusional by dropping an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . I’m joking! Now that I just put Mike on attention, seriously, please do email me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
