What's New


Pursuant to PCA Diablo Region's Bylaws, the Board of Directors will conduct the Club's annual General Business meeting immediately preceding the regular monthly Board Meeting on March 13th, 2023, starting at 6:00 PM. The annual meeting will be held at Black Bear Diner, 807 Camino Ramon in Danville. For those members who wish to attend virtually via Zoom Conferencing, we will provide a Zoom link. 

 

Board President Bob Hilton will report on the affairs of Diablo Region and the transaction of such other business as may properly be brought before the membership. Committee Chairs will report on their respective areas.  Members will have the opportunity to bring before the Board any issues which they feel require the Board's consideration in 2023. Members will also have the opportunity to review binders containing the minutes of all 2022 Board of Directors meetings as well as Treasurer’s reports during the previous year.

 

Members in attendance, as always, are welcome to stay for the regularly scheduled monthly Board meeting which will begin immediately following adjournment of the annual meeting. 


Our first Porsches & Pastries of the year on March 12, 2023, will be held in the parking lot of the Blackhawk Automotive Museum. See the Recurring Events section below for additional information.

New - Tours 201, Do you have an interest in helping with the Tours as a Run Group Lead, Relay or Sweep? Do you have a tour route you are interested in helping with? This training is for you. We all know that leading a Run Group takes some skills and practice, there are also special skills that Relays and Sweeps should learn and practice. This is a two-part training consisting of a Zoom presentation on Thursday, March 23, 2023, with an open discussion on what it takes to be a Run Group Lead, Relay, and Sweep and a practice drive on Sunday, March 26, 2023 for everyone to practice the roles. Lunch is included with the practice drive.

New - 4/1/2023 - Filoli Tour, Join us for a tour to Filoli House where a rainbow of tulips, daffodils, wisteria, azaleas and cherry blossoms are filling Filoli’s landscape. In Filoli’s historic House, the flower-filled season continues with bringing the Garden Indoors through fresh floral arrangements, architecture, decor, and art. Click here for additional information and to add your name to the waitlist for this tour. Tickets on sale.

Tickets on sale this Friday - 4/28-30/2023 - Paso Robles/Carrizo Plain Tour, the tour will depart on April 28th from Raley's in Pleasanton. We will drive to King City for a bring your own picnic lunch going down highways 680, 101, 25, 198 and 101. After lunch we will drive along Jolan Road to Lake Nacimiento Road, and highways 24 and 101 arriving at La Quinta Inn in Paso Robles. Participants will have free time before a bring your own to share wine and cheese tasting at the Inn, before heading to Jeffrey's Wine Country BBQ for dinner. On April 29th we will leave at 9:00 am for a drive to see wildflowers out on the Carrizo plain using highways 41, 229, and 58. After leaving the plain we will visit Blackwell's (James Deans last known stop). From there, we'll return to Paso Robles for a spectacular lunch at Eberle Winery's Wild Boar Room. After lunch, participants will have free time before joining together for dinner at one of several preselected and reserved restaurants. On Sunday, we'll leave the Inn at 10:00 am driving highway 46 to 1 and up to Carmel Valley where we'll complete our tour with a lunch at the famous Baja Cantina and Grill in Carmel Valley. Click here for additional information and to register for the tour. Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 10, 2023, at noon.

Diablo PCA has a new way for members to connect.  We have created a Facebook Group just for you.  Here you will find members telling members about drives they've taken, cars they have seen, posting photos, letting each other know about informal get togethers and much more.  You will also get news hot off the press from Diablo PCA.  Everyone is welcome to join just click on Diablo Region - Porsche Club of America Group.  So please come join the fun and share your love of Porsche, because; it's not just the cars - it's the people.

As the saying goes, "many hands make light work". We are looking for members to raise their hands as volunteers. As Diablo Region members, we enjoy an active calendar of driving tours, DE days, social events and other club activities throughout the year. These events simply don't happen organically. It takes the combined efforts of many volunteers to make the magic happen. Tours


Updated - 4/15/2023 - Ladies Only Tour, join us for a Ladies only tour in Marin County. The tour will start at the Buttercup in Walnut Creek, travel north on I680 ti I780. We will take Hwy 37 to Marin County and visit several local Farmstead Cheese companies along the way. Lunch will be at the Valley Ford Creamery. Tickets on sale soon.

We are always looking for fun opportunities to take our cars out for a ride. The Tour Committee will work with you to make it happen.

Registration for tours and other events is done via Eventbrite (you will need to create an account with Eventbrite to register for a tour). Watch for a link to the registration site in this section of the ENews or on our website. Tours often sell out the same day tickets go on sale. Be prepared to sign-up for tours as soon as registration is open. If you wish to purchase your own radio, the Club is using the Motorola Talkabout T800 radios. These are sold in pairs through Amazon for about $85.00. These radios are FRS/GMRS compatible, have 22 channels and 121 privacy codes (or sub-channels).

Zone 7 Events


New - Zone 7 Awards Dinner - Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Guadalajara Grill in Concord. The Zone 7 Annual Awards Dinner honors all competitors who competed in the Zone 7 Concours series and completed at least 50% of the events. Date Change - 2023 Zone 7 TSD Rally School and Rally, Sunday, March 12, 2023, hosted by Sacramento Valley Region at Porsche of Fremont - This event is designed to provide fellow PCA members the opportunity to experience a TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) Rally using the RICHTA GPS timing and scoring system.
